DESCRIPTION
Hotel Palota is situated in Lillafüred, a settlement 10 kilometres from Miskolc. The castle was built between 1927 and 1930 and is surrounded by a hanging garden and a large park.
The view to the Szinva river and Hámori lake is made even more magnificent by the murmur of the Szinva river waterfall in the immediate neighbourhood of the hotel. Budapest can be reached in approx. 2 hours by car.
LOCATION
The city Lillafüred lies surrounded by mountains on 3 sides in a picturesque valley in the eastern part of the Bükk mountains and is one of the nicest resorts in Hungary. Its climate is especially mild and gentle and perfect for asthmatic illnesses.
HISTORY
Count András Bethlen, minister of agriculture, is said to have been the denominator of the place, which he discovered while hunting, in 1892. In honor of the daughter of a wealthy noble, Lilla Vay, he gave the name Lillafüred to this place of spectacular beauty. The idea of its expansion to a tourist resort was raised by Count István Bethlen, in the 1920s.
GASTRONOMY
There are three restaurants and two bars in the hotel. Matthias restaurant decorated with lead glass offers renaissance dinner and music.
Our guests can enjoy an ample choice of dishes, beverages and music at Hunyadi restaurant.
Nagy Lajos small restaurant has an intimate character for 15-20 persons. Our wine cellar is the best place to taste the famous wines of Hungary and the Northeastern region.
WELLNESS, SPORT
You can use the 10 metre swimming-pool, the dry and wet sauna (steam bath), jacuzzi, indoor dipping and treading pool, and the fully equipped gym as well. In the new pool of the hotel, we formed the new “Silent wellness” division, in which we offer relaxation between 07.00-09 and 17.00-21.00 only for the guests over 14 years of age.
Besides the new adventure pool with various water elements, you have a great opportunity to rest in the Finnish sauna with outdoor plunge pool and the salt cave that offers treatment for respiratory diseases. Along the pool, next to the walls, you can find heated surfaces; those await our guests, who wish to relax. The natural light comes into the area over 3 domes in the ceiling over the pool. We also offer a wide range of massages including refreshing, aromatherapy and hot stone massages.
ROOMS & SUITES
The complete room renovations began in May 2009. As result of the works, the hotel got spacious rooms with furniture matching the atmosphere of the building. The Hotel Palota has 133 rooms, including 21 suites (some of them with jacuzzi or fireplace), 101 double rooms, 10 junior double rooms.
