WELCOME TO PALAIS SOLEIMAN

AN IDYLLIC SETTING FOR PRESTIGE EVENTS
The art of the table is an essential component of the Moroccan tradition. Rich in flavor, sensual, and vivid in color and texture, Moroccan cuisine owes its subtlety to diverse sources: Mesopotamian, Mediterranean, Berber, and Andalusian.

A BIT OF HISTORY
In 1971, Mustapha Segueni, a man of business and culture, purchased the palace, or more precisely the most beautiful wing, that in which the caïd had received his circle and held celebrations.

In 1972, he organized the first Hassan II golf trophy. He was a passionate connaisseur of music, and brought the greatest artists of the day (Italian soprano Katia Ricciarelli, French pianists Guy Touvron and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Nadir Elie, Portuguese pianist Maria Joao Pires, countertenor Gérard Lesne…) to Marrakech. He inaugurated the first classical music festival of Morocco, which he financed personally without benefit of sponsors, and which he baptized “Music in the Sahara”.

In 2004, Driss Segueni, his son and graduate of the Lausanne Hotel School, inherited the palace and assumed its direction. He was determined to find rank among the best tables of Marrakech, as well as maintaining the tradition of sponsoring fine music.

He undertook a major remodel, restored ceramic mosaics and floors, redesigned the entrance hall around a magnificent fountain of ottoman inspiration, and embellished the halls with richly embroidered Turkish fabrics. As a collector of arabo-muslim antiquities (ancient textiles, 19th century caftans, Syrian inlaid-wood furniture) as well as contemporary art, he introduced a richness of decorative elements to the traditionally austere rooms.

ABOUT THE PALACE
Considered to be one of the most beautiful examples of civil architecture in the imperial city of Marrakech, the Soleïman Palace showcases the work of the most skilled artisans of Fez and Marrakech, who devoted years to both its construction and decoration.

With its intricately engraved cupolas, illuminated ceilings, walls covered with multicolored zelliges (ceramic mosaics) and delicately carved plasterwork, and dreamlike atmostphere, the Soleïman Palace offers the visitor a gracious invitation to travel back in time and enjoy a full cultural experience.

At the very heart of this experience, one discovers Moroccan gastronomy, recognized throughout the world as one of the most exquisite and generous cuisines.
