Enjoy a couple of days in the lovingly renovated rooms, junior and romantic suites of the 1000 year old castle Matzen. The castle is lovely situated in the nature of the Tyrolean Inn Valley on a small hill near the village of Brixlegg and has direct access to the park.
The beautiful Alpbachtal in Tyrol is a few minutes' drive or walk away from the castle- and with the Alpbachtal Seenland Card you will get great activities free of charge.
HISTORY
Already in the Bronze Age the well protected hill of Matzen was a residential place. The Roman "Masciacum" was built to secure the Roman road in the Inn valley. In the 12th century the castle Matzen was built in Romanesque style. Owners and appearance of the castle changed over the centuries. Today, the guest rooms are named after the various owners of the castle. The castle is mentioned for the first time in 1167, in possession of the Knight of Frundsberg.

The idyllic lake in Matzenpark, the green lung of Matzen just by the castle, makes every walk to something special. Relax and unwind by the lakeside. The view onto the calm waters lets every visitor forget their everyday cares and regain their energy.

with its famous fortress, is 33 km from Matzen and the province capital Innsbruck with its museums and the magnificent old town with the Golden Roof and the breathtaking mountain backdrop is 44 km away

The historic tower from 1150 has been changed into a modern spa tower with Finnish sauna, Turkish steam bath, massage, GYM with the newest equipment from Technogym, a rest room and on the top a exceptionel spa lounge with a fantastic stunning view over the roofs of the castle and into the Inntal and Alps.
