History
The ancient origins of Vigoleno rooted in Roman times. The latin form “Victus Lyaeci” literally a place consecrated to Bacchus for its exquisite wines, demonstrates the strong link to the surrounding area from the beginning. Following the first official historical dating back to 1132, the historical information founded shows that Vigoleno represents a rarity among the Italian history: Castle belong to a single family almost continuously from the end of 4th century until the begging of ‘900: Scotti Family.
In 1622 the family elevated to the most important rank of the Duchy §Aristocracy, made the Castle the most important literal and cultural seat cutting edge of the Duchy. The Scotti family will send the ownership of the Castle at the beginning of XX century, and the Castle passing true many different families, nobles and not, will come to our days in a state of perfect preservation and renovation faithful historical and artistic.
