Ama, the wine
Each single drop of our wine is made from grapes grown exclusively in our own vineyards. We see wine as distillation, more powerful than words, from the traditions, history and beauty of this magical place.
To make wine at C ASTELLO DI A MA is to respect the grapes cultivated here every step of the way, from the harvest to the bottle. It is by serving the grapes and by honoring their character that we are able to produce wines that seem to have come out of the generous rocky ground.
Our guided wine tasting tours lead the visitors to the inner life of a leading Chianti estate.
The tour takes you to the vineyard plant, the aging cellar, the village of Ama with its ancient chapels, the Pianigiani and Ricucci villas from the 18th century and its historical gardens.
Not only does it illuminate the process of wine-making, it also portrays the 14 specific works of the contemporary art collection of Castello di Ama per l'Arte Contemporanea. Among the many internationally renowned artists who have reacted to the genius loci of Ama are Anish Kapoor, Daniel Buren and Louise Bourgeois.
